Vesselin Kourtev is an internationally acclaimed fine art artist with almost 40 years of professional experience. In this solo exhibition, Vesselin presents us with his classic style of bold abstract art that aids us in learning more about different interpersonal relationships that humans form. He explores new possibilities through paint dripping and layering of canvases to create a singular image. Vesselin’s unique style stands out from the rest as he has been praised by many esteemed critics, fellow artists, and high-profile members of society. Please join us for the in-person exhibition opening of Resonance to witness a spectacular exhibit that you won’t want to miss! Resonance takes us through a dreamlike setting accompanied by outstanding paint splashes of color. Kourtev’s paintings consist of figures that seem ghostlike as they fade into the page. We are brought on a journey of emotion through facial expression, color, and strategic artistic technique. Themes of interpersonal relationships, human connection, and deep emotion are present throughout his paintings. Alfa Art Gallery invites you to the exhibition “Lifted” which features two prominent artists: John Hawaka and Vesselin Kourtev. Not only will this show exhibit the work of two skilled artists with prolific careers, “Lifted” is in honor and in memory of John Hawaka, and will celebrate his art and his life. This two – person show will also be a commemoration of the artists’ long-time friendship and their admiration for each other’s art work. “Lifted” will encompass a physical exhibition of Vesselin Kourtev’s work and a virtual exhibition of John Hawaka’s pieces, run simultaneously from October 2, 2020 through November 28, 2020. Exhibition Duration: October 2, 2020 – November 28, 2020 Opening Reception: Friday, October 16 @ 6:00 PM John Hawaka began painting one day when he was forced to stay inside Kilmer Job Corps Center in Edison due to a snow storm. He picked up a paintbrush to pass time, and never put it down since then. Over the years he experimented with different techniques and mediums such as acrylics. Soon enough, he discovered his talent with rare lacquer painting techniques and became one of the few artists in North America who use them. Most of the time, Hawaka did not prioritize a specific subject for his paintings. First, he would choose a color and focus on the design. Alfa Art Gallery invites you to “Serrated Disposition: Vesselin Kourtev’s Solo Exhibition” featuring representative works from the artist’s various cycles of exploration in oil, watercolor, drawing, and mixed media. Exhibition Opening Friday, September 6 @ 6:30pm Exhibition Duration September 3, 2019 – October 26, 2019 Exhibiting Artist Vesselin Kourtev About this Exhibition This exhibition will feature works created by the globally recognized artist, and founder of Alfa Art Gallery, Vesselin Kourtev. The two new cycles on display, titled Personal Dissections in watercolor and Interpersonal Revelations in oil paint, represent yet another chapter in the artist’s career, while incorporating motifs and symbols from his previous works. About the Artist Boasting a display of works in a variety of exhibitions all over the world, Vesselin Kourtev has been perfecting his art since 1987. In Bulgaria where he was born and raised, Vesselin earned a high school degree in Fine Art from the Fine Art School in Kazanlak as well as a Master’s Degree in Fine Art from the University of Veliko, Turnovo. Applying the skills and knowledge he has gained throughout his training in Fine Arts, Vesselin has worked at the National School of Stage and Film Design in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Finally, through a compilation of his previous work and experiences, Vesselin founded the Alfa Art Gallery in 2007 where he currently works as Head Art Director and Resident Artist with his wife Galina Kourteva, as they go to great extents to ensure the success of the artists and interns associated with the gallery.
