2023 – Chasing Memories: A Vesselin Retrospective

The Alfa Art Gallery is pleased to present a new installation of the internationally-renowned artist Vesselin Kourtev. The Alfa Ary Gallery is pleased to show the community the solo exhibition “Chasing Memories: A Vesselin Retrospective.” Vesselin showcases new and past artworks in this upcoming exhibit, producing an entirely new concept of discernible freedom and fluidity. Vesselin invites the public to create their interpretation of his work and unique retrospective.

Vesselin’s subject matter includes the human form, capturing human relationships and interactions in global and personal dimensions. His work takes on an abstract style, creating environmental reconstruction. The state of the figures conveys Vesselin’s message, and their faces are reinforced with reserved gestures and movements. He was born in Bulgaria, an ancient country with a rich artistic and cultural heritage, which greatly influenced his work. Vesselin’s inventive use of mixed media effectively communicates subtle, sensitive, and sometimes humorous messages.

With over 30 years of experience as a professional fine art artist, Vesselin Kourtev is an internationally acclaimed artist who has exhibited in New York, Berlin, Antwerp, Geneva, and Prague. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Art at the University of Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria. From 1989 until 2002, he worked in the Art School of Scenography, Plovdiv, and took part in the artistic life of Bulgaria and participated in numerous one-man shows and international exhibitions. He came to America in 2009 and settled in New Jersey with his family. In 2008 Vesselin founded the Alfa Art Gallery in New Brunswick as an excellent cultural, academic, theatrical, business, and social center.
